The Radio Wranglers

Vintage Country and Western!

Long Time Since We Wrote Here...

Hey there everyone!

It's been a real busy couple of months here for the Wranglers. Wanted to check in and share some music we've been listening to. The Countryside of Harmonica Sam is an incredible example of Honky Tonk music coming out of Scandinavia. We've had the pleasure of hanging out with these guys and also seeing them perform at the 2015 Ameripolitan Awards. They are so great! We'll see you all in Cross Plains at the end of the month. 'Til then...

Howdy there, friends!

Blaine here. Just wanted to give you guys some updates that have been happening here in the Radio Wranglers world.  First of all, we are pleased to announce that our friend Peyton Lencho will be playing full time with us on the upright bass! He's quite the staple in the Wisconsin music scene, and we are so lucky to have him on board. Of course, we still have the heavenly twin fiddles of Ruthie and myself, the wonderful picking of Danny Tyksinski, and the hard driving rhythm of Mr. Ed Novak! We're really enjoying the sound we've come up with, and we've got a few new original songs in the lineup, along with some new classic favorites for us. Come out and see us in a town or city near you.

In other news, we are so excited to be involved with the Gays Mills Folk Festival all the way on the west coast of Wisconsin. Can't wait for a weekend of tunes, dancing, and carrying on! We will be performing a set in the concert on the evening of May 13th, along with some master classes throughout the day, and square dancing all night long. If you haven't been to this wonderful event, you need to come on down! It's sure to be a blast. Mark your calendars for the weekend of May 13th (Mothers Day Weekend).

Before I let you go, I want to leave you guys with some music that i've been listening to a lot lately. First, A very cool video some friends of ours came across that i think everyone should see. The legendary Johnny Gimble with the all star line up of the Texas Swing Pioneers! Cliff Bruner on Fiddle! Smokey Montgomery on the Banjo! Deacon Anderson on that 6 string Steel! J.R. Chatwell! Eldon Shamblin on Guitar! Zeke Cambell! So many legends on one stage. Do yourself a favor and watch both parts of the Austin City Limits performance!

Second, one of my favorite bands as of late, TUBA SKINNY! They really do that old times New Orleans Jazz the way it should be. And you just can't beat the voice of Erika Lewis! Check out their website and buy all of their music. Here's "What's The Matter With The Mill!"

until next time
